FAQ’s

Answers to some of our most frequently asked questions:

How long do you plan on staying in the Dominican?

Right now, our only definite is… indefinitely! We haven’t set any permanent return date to the States. We want to go where God leads. We believe in the importance of investing in people’s lives. The best way to get involved is to spend time with people. With that belief in mind, we’re trying to find ways to show Jesus to those around us here in the DR.

What does a normal day look like for your family?

“Normal” looks a little different for us – both our family and our ministry are ever changing and growing. In the past, Ang has taught in the school and worked with our Dominican teachers. She’s currently working with Freedom’s sponsorship program. Scott has been a jack-of-all-trades. He helps with village ministry, elementary music classes in the school, and other odd jobs.  Our family enjoys spending time with teams and visitors to Freedom year-round – our desire is for people take part in what the Lord is doing in the Dominican and, more importantly, to leave here with a bigger picture of who God is.

Am I able to visit?

Yes! Internships and short-term trips are available through Freedom. The exciting aspect of our ministry is that we are working with the same children and families every day. Someone who comes for a short period of time can make an impact and stay connected with the people through the long-term work of the missionaries.  And those people who are a part of our child sponsorship program are able to visit and encourage their children in person!

How do you receive mail?  Can we send you packages?

Our mail is serviced through a missionary organization called Agape Flights. Packages are sent to their Florida address and then flown to the Dominican once each week. We are notified each time we receive a package and drive to the Capital (Santo Domingo) to pick up our mail. Click here for more information on sending packages.

E-mail scottmitchener@itisforfreedom.com for our airport code and account number.
